“We will not be silent, we will not allow transphobia to continue to define us.”

“Transgender people are still being killed.
Trans women are still dying.
We are not the only people in this community who are going through this.
We are the most vulnerable.
But we need to be loud about it, we need it to be visible, and we need people to stand up.”
On Tuesday, the New York City Council voted to pass a resolution calling for a ban on using the term “transgender” in the media.
Transgender is a derogatory term used to refer to people who identify as neither male nor female, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.
