By Football Italian staff A 2-1 victory at Bolognese will not change a decision made by Parma to send forward Mauro Icardi to the Parma bench on Sunday.
Icardic will be a substitute after suffering a hamstring injury against Pescara.
Parma were hoping to get the 24-year-old on the bench for Sunday’s game with Fiorentina.
He will be unavailable for the first leg at the San Siro on Sunday evening.
The Rossoneri will also be without a defensive midfielder and one of their top strikers.
Santi Cazorla is set to start for the Nerazzurri, while Mario Mandzukic is likely to start at left-back.
Cazorla, who has been sidelined since December, has scored three goals in four appearances.
Mazen will also miss the game, as he has been recovering from a broken leg.
Icardi, who was a substitute for the second leg against Sassuolo, has just one goal in six Serie A games this season.
He will start for his first career game against Sasso, who have won just two of their 14 league games.
Parma were expected to receive a positive response from Icardia, but they were disappointed with the results.
“Icardic is a great player and he is very important for the team,” Parma manager Antonio Conte said.
“The truth is we didn’t deserve the result.”
Icarico was brought in on a free transfer in January 2015 and scored his first goal for Parma in the 1-0 victory over Fiorensina last week.
In his absence, the Rossonerio have won two of three Serie A matches this season and are now unbeaten in nine games in all competitions.
